How is Guild Wars 2 gameplay?

My main concern is not having a whole bunch of people clogging the screen on my missions. Can I play lets say, with just a few friends without having like 35 people around making a bunch of **** that you can't see your own character?

Well I have to disagree with the other answers. I love this game and haven't found an issue with crowds. It sounds like they played the game for 1 day when it was first released and haven't tried it since. At that point, everyone was brand new so of course all the players were grouped up in the starter area. Now that players have leveled a bit and spread out into the world, the crowds aren't bad.

If you want to group up with 2 or 3 friends and go off on your own, you can. If you are out exploring the world, you can definitely expect to see other players around and if you're fighting a Champion or World boss then you'll want other players around. However when you're working on dungeons or your personal story, your personal team will be the only ones in the instance.

  • Unfortunatley that's how the game was. When you start out you have to fight a boss with about 60 other people and after that you have to do quests that aren't about you but everybody in the area.

You walk into a zone and you automatically get the quest and you will see a bar at the top of the screen and you will have to do a bunch of tasks like kill spiders or give the cow some water but the players around you will contribute to moving that bar across the screen so you don't really have to do anything and if you want you can just stand there and watch the bar move. You don't have to do anything and if you decide to then it doesn't matter what you do and you can even do that same task over and over

At least WoW gave you a story line and had an order to the task it wanted you to do but the questing system in GW2 sucks.

I personally hate the game because it gives you the best gear in the game at the start and the only point of doing dungeons is to get a cosmetic item or to work on your personal story. Aside from that you aren't going into a dungeon to get gear but just a cosmetic item. All of the levels require the same xp so people are already capping in 3 days which is a bad thing because they are getting board and have nothing to do. WoW used to require months but now they reduced it to 5 days which I am against. MMOs should require a lot of time and dedication because they are time sinks.

I don't see the point of the leveling if they just boost you to cap in WvWvW. If they boost you to max level then what is the point of leveling up at all? Sure, being able to duck and dodge attacks is something unheard of but without the gear progression it's not really an RPG and is definetly not inovative. The game is good if you are looking for a quick pvp match but aside from that it's not worth the 60 bucks. Also you are downscaled if you enter a lower zone that even makes leveling more worthless because you can't return as the powerfull warlord so if you are automatically capped by queing for a PVP match and the only reason to do dungeons is for a cosemtic item then what was the point of it? (Aside from personaly story)

The game is horrible and I wouldn't reccomend it.

That's really only an issue for dynamic events and sieges in WvW. General questing isn't crowded at all, dungeons are five players only, and your personal story is a private instance (though you can invite friends). Even the dynamic events have gotten better over the past few weeks as people have spread out across the map. So accept that zergs will happen occasionally, but probably not enough to ruin your fun.

no such thing as instances or solo acvtivities

soon as a boss or world event pops up you will have 100 other people swarming the area and your reward is how much you do durning these events

game play sucks support for any tech or trying to get help for what ever issue you might have is non existing

you would get more help asking a brick wall ^_^ speaking from exp i have had a tech support ticket in since sept 1 with no response

your level gets riased and dropped a lot depending on the zone you are in

the cities are confusing as hell with no help what so ever on finding stuff you need

    game is mostly bugged

and you got a lot of idiots paying hundreds of dollars for powerleveling and gold

not to mention the scam emails

all around i have had more fun watching that kid show sponge bob *witch i hate with a passion* than playing the game

but the visuals are not bad

Thats just how the game is tragically. However with the exception of areas with random boss fights, people tend to be really stretched out across the map. The group feature is not very good.

Maybe this guide will give you a better idea of the game.
