My kitten and adult cat 10 points best answer!?
I have a 17 year old cat with me for a long time and Sunday I got a 6 week old kitten. Both are females but the kitten is black and the cat is Calico. My vet says for 2 weeks to keep the kitten away from other animals(such as my cat). My cat now is sort of sad and different but she hasn't seen the kitten. I want to keep the kitten and the cat. How will they get along and will my cat be fine? What should I do with my cat now? If anybody can just please tell me everything so they will be ok and better. Thanks in advance ******10 points best answer*****

If you do a slow introduction it will help them! Try keeping the kitten in one room for a few days. After a couple days place the kittens food by the door so he/she can eat, close the door and have the cat eat on the other side. Slowly the cat will associate the smell of the kitten with a positive response. Then after a few days open the door up and put up a baby gate, if you have one or can get one, and feed them the same way. Finally remove the gate and let them eat together. By this time they should be used to eachother enough. This doesn't work 100% of the time but I have seen it work quite a few times!

Well it's weird that they don't want them togteher unless one hasn't had shots. If they are both fine such as not being sick and caught up with their shots I wouldn't see a problem putting them together. They will have to get use to eachother somehow so hold the kitten and see how your cat acts or vise-versa you hold your cat and let him/her see and smell the kitten they well work up to eachothers personal space and get use to one another in time. I hope this helps.

I imagine your cat will be feeling a bit down because you have probably been giving the kitten more attention, but either way you will have been giving her less attention. I think they should be okay together. Cats can get teritorial, however introducing the kitten slowly to your cat should be fine :)
