Fluid drained from lung...it was reddish brown and thick, does that indicate anything?
My dad is pretty sick, stage IV lung cancer, advanced COPD...etc...his newest symptom is shortness of breath, more so than usual, and so the doctors decided to drain some fluid from his lungs in the hopes he would breath a bit better.
They did one lung yesterday and pulled 1.2 Liters of fluid out of his right lung. He said the fluid looked like reddish brown mud....this surprised me as I expected him to say clear to yellowy.
Is reddish brown mud fluid indicative of anything in particular?

He's probably got some blood mixed in there with the fluid.
That's all I can say.
