Do you think that drug testing should be mandatory for welfare?

I have to take a drug test to get a job that pays for welfare, so shouldn't they have to do the same to receive it?

@Zirp, I work in an office, I spend half the day browsing the internet. Nothing dangerous there.My friend works at a hotel as a manager and gets tested. Nothing dangerous there. I could continue with a list of jobs that require drug testing yet don't deal with dangerous equipment or stuff like that. It is becoming more and more common for jobs to ask for drug tests.

They do say it is ok to " booze your brain out and smoke your lungs to shreds with tobacco, but you can't use cannabis". That is basically Federal law.

I don't think it's like saying only the rich can do it. I think it is more of an encouragement for people to stop doing drugs and learn to help themselves.

To me what you are saying then is it is ok for people to be drug addicts and we'll pay for their food and rent.

    I think yes.

    I'm actually for legalizing weed and other controlled substances. I just feel that if you can afford to buy these things, you can afford food. Same goes with people addicted to alcohol, which is legal.

    It has nothing to do with rights as noone forces you to go on government assistance. Some of the trashiest, laziest or generally uneducated people are often on gov assistance. (this is not a knock against those on welfare who don't fit these descriptions.)

    I take a drug test every quarter for my job and they make us leave the door open. I don't see why they have a problem with it, especially since they can close the door.

    No drug addicts need food and housing too, they are our responsibility! Just be lucky you arent one of them
