choosing a name for my cat ?

Hello , have just adopted a 6years of age female cat , but am not keen on the name she came with . am considering 2 names 1-Bella ,,,,,2-Timothy , yes i know its a boys name , but does it really matter she wont care . also she bites me sometimes when i stroke her , could this be stress or nervousness .

Update:

Apparently she has a form of dermatitis which comes and goes , caused by stress , and her previous owners did not look after properly and neglected her .

as for the biting i had a cat from an animal rescue centre who was about 8 he used to bite me when i stroked him, but immedetley wanted more fussing, and again bit me, i soon learnt he only liked to be stroked to about halfway down his back. the vets could find nothing wrong with him but he was happy being stoked on his terms. see if your cat reacts when you touch certain points on her, it maybe she has had a bad experience from her former home and needs time to adjust. if in doubt have your vet to have a look at her.

It is a hard life for a cat trying to train their owners.

What a mature one. Sure she is the loving one. Mature cat who already experience to human love is the best one. You don't have to teach them a lot, and no scratching at all. Nervousness is normal.

Why don't you give a little description about her appearance. It will help a lot.

If you want you can search meaning of name. There's a lot of website, especially the one who made for pet lover, give name dictionary for your cat. Try search

    "cat name"+meaning

    in Google.

I my self name my pet Lycaa (a beauty female dog) from my beloved one. It's name base of my best friend name, Angelica. I get last part of her name and give it some modification. And sure i get permission from her. :)

My bunny "Ponny" from Poppy-Wenny. From my and my sister name, cause both of us is her parents.

Try to be creative! You know it's always fun to give someone a name. Not a name that ever been use but the name you make it by yourself and give it meaning later. Hehe..

Hope you enjoy your naming experiences!

Sorry if the grammar is sucks. Hope you understand to. Peace!

    instead of Bella...how about Stella?

    I would name it Lindsey.

The bite when petting usually is because of nervousness.

    All cats have different personalities.

as for me...I wanted to take over the world!!!

unlike people, i might wait till you actual get the cat till now naming him/her. 2 of our cats went that direction. the 1st cat we had as a baby became a lovable Persian/Alley mixture who might hop up on the ping-pong table in our basement and knock the ball away at the same time as we've been enjoying. subsequently, we called her Ping-Pong. between the cats I actual have now i did no longer call for extra or less 2 weeks. Then one time i became petting her and observed that her fur made the comparable trend which you get once you scoop Pralines & Cream ice cream from Edy's or between the best ice creams. subsequently, the call Praline.

Call her whatever you want, she's your pet. She may be biting you because maybe she was mistreated by her previous owners and she's a bit apprehensive of new people, she should realise you're not going to hurt her and when she is more comfortable with you she will grow out of it.

Bella is nice...or maybe Tibet <-----pretty cool huh?

if she is biting when you stroke her then maybe she has some kind of pain in her lower back , common in older cats ,and she s trying to tell you to stop because it hurts her when you stroke her back.
