Why don't more people commits suicide if they believe in heaven?

Because they lack conviction of their beliefs. Deep down, they know this is the only life they get.

Beats me. When I was 14, I was having a rough preteen era and was raised Protestant so when I was told I had a tumor and needed surgery to remove it, I hoped and prayed that I wouldn't make it out of surgery.

Obviously I did and at the time, I was disappointed...now that I can see IN 'the light', I am fine with staying alive since I'm not even sure that there is an afterlife and I'm 99.9% sure there's not a judgmental mono deity that cursed humans with sin and then plans on punishing the majority b/c of it.

But I always wondered why more theists didn't want to die.

I guess the suicide bombers did.

Very interesting question. I used to wonder at how preachers would shout out fire and brimstone from their pulpits on Sunday morning, but one thing that is NEVER mentioned at a funeral is that the deceased is probably rotting away in hell. It's always the same thing, they are in a better place now.

Heaven and hell, as being preached in mainstream Christianity, is a false doctrine, straight from the mouth of Satan way back in the garden of Eden when he told Adam and Eve that they would surely not die for disobeying God. He brought forth the idea of the immortality of the soul and virtually every religion out there in the world preaches it. Ever wonder why the Christian idea of heaven and hell are similar to Greek and Roman mythological views? Elyssian Fields and Hades, for example? It's because the Roman Catholic Church brought in the paganistic ideas from Babylon. They even have purgatory and limbo.

The Bible teaches that God alone is immortal. We are NOT immortal. When we die, we simply die. Our bodies get buried and we eventually turn back to dust. Our spirit, or breath of life, goes back to God who gave it to us. There will be an appointed time when Jesus will return and we will be resurrected, either into eternal life, or into judgment and final annhilation in the lake of fire.

You don't say, "Oh well I guess they are in HELL at a funeral, because it's a classless, tactless thing to say in someone's worse hour of personal grief.

You don't KILL yourself to get to Heaven......because you >ENJOY< the GIFT of life first.......and then there's time for Heaven later.

You seem to have some pretty azz backwards attitudes about it all.

In cases like suicide, words of comfort like suggesting that the person went to heaven, are used as condolence. This is pretty much bending the standards of Christianity to comfort those affected by the death. Like you said, people tend to be religious when it suits them.

They use emotion instead of logic. Prior to suicide, suicide is emphasized as evil because they love the person and don't want them to die. Whereas after a suicide, they ignore the sin because they want the person who died to go to heaven because they love them.

nowhere in the Bible does it say that suicide will send you to hell..hell is reserved for those who have rejected Gods attempts over and over. The suicide and hell belief is a catholic belief and not in accordance with the Bible.

The Bible says that all sin is equal and I know that may be a hard concept for some to take in.

Sin is Sin.

Suicide is a sin yes! but if you are someone who is saved by the Grace Of God and have asked him into your life then you are saved no matter what! Salvation is no license to sin! God understands us better than anyone. A Christian who has lost sight of God and fallen back into his ways may reach a point where he feels so hopeless and helpless that he takes his own life!

That statement applies to the unsaved as well. The Bible tells us that Gods heart literally breaks when he sees his children living sinfully despite his salvation. Eventually God will call us home like disobedient children who arent doing any good for his name! "I am not saying he makes anyone commit suicide" The hopeless choice to kill oneself comes from the devil. With God there is always a way out if you will just come to him! He never forces himself on anyone! that would be a form of divine rape! but instead he gives us the choice to choose him or reject him! Hell was created as punishment by eternal seperation from God and what the Bible calls "A place of perfect beauty" read Revelation 21 for a sample of how gorgeous heaven is!

God created hell as punishment for those who have constantly over and over rejected him! His heart breaks for that as well but it is his divine plan. The Bible tells us that before the souls that have rejected him over and over are cast into the lake of fire that they will see everyone who had ever witnessed to them so that they will see how many times God used his children to help open the door and let him in. He says "Behold I stand at the door and knock" and also he allowed the example of the thief on the cross to be shown for a reason.

The reason being is that all you have to do is ask! the thief that was crucified next to Jesus simply looked over and said "Lord remember me when you come into your kingdom" and the Lord replies "Today I assure you that you shall be with me in paradise"

Its that simple! "Blessed is the man who believes yet does not see" its all faith! Its simple! Its love!

A love that noone deserves!

God created US for the sole purpose of fellowship! imagine that! an almighty infinite God who just didnt want to be alone anymore! Legions and legions of angels and a perfect heaven werent enough! so he made us in his image! isnt that the most unselfish thing youve heard! and on top of that we sinned and he loved us enough to sacrifice his only son!

People feel conviction in his name! thats why they get so angry!

If i said "hey man have you heard of buddah?" would most people get mad? No!

But when you say "have you heard of Jesus?" they get defensive because there is power in his name.

Even atheists call upon God in times of trouble to either curse his name or ask for his help!

research all the scientific discoveries that have been made! They even found Noahs ark! right where the bible said it would be..DNA cannot be replicated and is something of a miracle as a Nobel peace prize winner once said. The human body is too perfect! how could one single celled organism get life and evolve into all the species of insect and plants and fish etc. etc.!

Because people who believe in Heaven usually also believe in God and know that it is a sin to kill one's self.

Because suicide is a sin that would prevent you from seeing heaven

Lots of religious dogma says that suicide sends you to hell.
