How to be an olympic runner?

Ok, so I am 13 yrs old and the olympics have really inspired me. I really want to compete in the 800m in the olympics in Rio but i am not associated with a club or anything. I run in the gym in the morning. IF i do (by chance) run a very fast 800m time at school or something like that... how would I be able to send an application for the olympic trials? I know its all a bit dreamy but i just want to know :)

Update:

my time atm is 2.54 BUT i have not trained at all and that was only the second time I ran it. I do quite a lot of sports- a total of 18hrs each week of various sports. I mainly want to know how I would be able to make the olympic trial commitee aware of my time

You need to join a club if this is your aspiration and they will deal with everything if you are as good as you sound. Your school won't do much I'm afraid. The atheletics season isn't until Summer though, so you may have to wait before any athletic matches come about. In the meantime, you could try cross country? I am a fairly average runner and I run 800m in 3 minutes and I am 13 as well, Out of interest, what's your average time?? :D Hope I helped!!

Source(s): I like athletics and stuff and go to a club! :)

Associate yourself with a club, they will train you and send you to competitions.
