Should I let my daughter go swimming?
My 12, almost 13 year old daughter has asked if she could go swimming in the mornings at 5:15 before school every Friday with her friend and friend's mom. She swims on a swim team and feels that it will help her improve her performance. However, I feel that she will be too tired and it will affect her grades. She currently has straight A's. What should I do?
She already swims Tuesdays thursdays and Saturdays

let her do it... as long as you can get a weekly progress report from her teachers to make sure she isn't letting her grades slip. otherwise, you could just email her teachers on a weekly/biweekly basis.

Hi, Sara! I think it's okay if you let her. After all it's only once a week and besides, Saturday has no class, right? She can rest and study at the same time. If it will really improve her swimming performance, then go ahead! You can even accompany her to tell her if it is enough for the day. But if you can't, tell her not to swim so hard to save some energy for class. But if you have time with her to practice during weekend then why not go with her? I'm sure she will love to see her mom watching her!

Let her try it! At my school if your on the swim team you need to swim at like 5 in the morning like every day! And they kick you off if your grades slip. If they can maintain their grades so can she. If she can't though just pull her out.

Tell her she can go swimming as long as it will not affect her grades, and if it starts to you can talk to her about making taking her out of swimming to work on school. Don't worry too much about it though, she'll probably be fine

I get up at 6:00 in the morning on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays every week so yeah as long as they have fun and you should ask her why exactly.

Hello Sarah! I'm 13. I do know that we teens need a lot of sleep! Go for a trial basis, if it strains her grades, then push for an earlier bedtime. If that doesn't work, don't alough it anymore.
