"No Religious Affiliation" is the fastest growing demographic?

Does that mean secularism is winning? Are people finally realizing that religion is a scam?

In which country, pray tell us? America? Britain? France?

Even if that is the case in all three of those nations, it by no means counters the fact that around 5 billion people DO have religious affiliations. Out of 7 billion.

And secularism is certainly growing - I don't deny it. I'm just not phased by the fact. The Bible warns that godlessness will increase noticeably in the build-up to Jesus returning.

Well it's certainly on the rise but I think most people will always be religious in some form or another.

I'm a christian though and I think this is a good thing. Most confessing christians who say they are christians just say it because their parents are christians, or because they hang around other professing christians, or it just means they aren't an atheist. The truth is that most of those who claim to be religious live just like their is no god, atheists just take it one step further. What this poll shows is that more and more people are choosing not to live like hypocrites and are instead confessing that they do not truly believe. And this is a very good thing for a couple reasons: 1. It's usually easier to witness to someone who publicly denies God then a religious person who thinks they are righteous by their own effort. 2. I believe the wrath of God will be worse for hypocrites. Since hypocrites bear the name of Christ hypocrisy is a form of blasphemy. When someone confesses to be a follower of Christ yet lives like the world they insult God.

And I think people may be realizing that religion is a scam. I mean religion says you can bribe your way into heaven with good works. Take lying for example- If you've even told one lie then you are a liar, and the bible says that lying lips are an abomination to God (proverbs 12:22) Or stealing- have you ever stolen anything? Then you are a thief. Ever taken God's name in vain? Like o...m.. or said His name as a cussword? Then you are guilty of blasphemy. The God who has given you life- you've dragged his name through the mud. Ever committed adultery? The bible says if you even look at a woman to lust after her you commit adultery with her in your heart. (matthew 5:28) And all of these sins against an infinitely Holy God are worthy of an infinite punishment. An infinite fine that no man can pay.

Perhaps not much noticed in small towns and villages, etc but in large cities look around and see the old church buildings that used to be packed and now are sold for other use or just deserted. Closing of churches is how to measure the falling away of members of religions and what a great thing that is to see people awakening to commons sense.

Source(s): look around and you will see even catholic churches closing

Yes, this generation like none other before has such ready access to information via the internet that they are able and willing to research such topics as religion as never before.

People are time and time again coming to the realisation as to just how little supporting evidence there is for the claims of religion.

What a wonderful time to be alive.

Yep, it definitely is the fastest growing. For a LARGE part of that, however, it is simply people willing to ADMIT it. Increased growth rate of truly "new" members probably is not that much more than it has always accelerated. And, in the last few centuries it HAS always been accelerating, just many were not willing to admit it.

Religion is a part of society and when people become disillusioned, they usually go back to some sort of religious practice. Winning and losing go hand in hand and on goes the story of humanity.

People can still know God without an organized joining of a group. I know many that do.

Reality is in, fairy tales just don't help one cope with modern societies anymore.
