How responsible is anime and manga for the child porn epidemic in Japan?
In Japan child pornography (with kids as young as 12) is legal.
"Japan has long been considered a hub for the production and possession of paedophile images. It is the only OECD (Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development) nation that has not banned possession of child porn, partly to protect its manga and anime industries, which churn out thousands of titles every year that sail close to the legal wind. A government survey in 2002 found that 10 per cent of Japanese men admitted to owning child porn at some stage."
Other factors have included the internet.
So how much responsibility does anime and manga owe to the 600 (minimum) children a year who are photographed and filmed by peadophiles?
Is anime and manga to blame at all? Are they partially to blame? What about the people buying such things, has anime/manga encouraged this perversion, or was it something already there?

Anyway, the children being abused aren't women in their 30s and 40s. It's a legitimate problem ad the law protecting paedophilia is true. If you don't agree that anime or manga are responsible that's fine, but please don't downplay this, it's awful for these poor children

I can see where you are coming from; however, I do not believe manga and anime are to blame. At least not completely. I do admit there is some manga that I could see people reading, getting ideas, and then actually trying things. Still, it's not the main factor. It's a small one. What people do is based on themselves; on their mental capacity. Yes, Japan is a little too lenient, as are a lot of Asian countries. I know someone in my speech class, they moved from Korea and porn and pedophilia is a big part of their life from a young age. They see nothing wrong with porn, and little with pedophilia. I guess what I'm getting at, is the fact that, anime and manga are not a big reason for this problem. If they are it is only a small portion.

I don't think anime and manga are to blame, the only people you can blame are the men creating the child porn.

Personally, I think it's because of how the female characters act and dress, as well as all the fanserivce that goes on. Oh, and those that say that's all it is, mainly it's because they have their heads so far up their @sses they can't see it.

they are asian. a woman in her 30's even 40's can look like she's a minor.
