Yes sir, I agree and I collect model 12s. Also, Win. model 42 ( was the .410 version of the model 12 ) They just don't make 'em like that anymore.

How about the Winchester Model 21 side by side ? or the Remington 3200 over and under ?

Nice firearms, built by craftsmen who understood they were actually producing a work of art. The state of the art in fact.

EDIT : This is a great question, it made my mind race. Think of how many of these old time firearms were made and survive today. Two even three lifetimes of use later. Never a worn out part or repair needed. They just don't make 'em like that anymore. I say those who bought and enjoyed these firearms made a very good purchase.

  • For me,the Mossberg 500 for a pump.

I've never owned a semi auto shotgun, but the Mossberg 930 looks great. I'm sure the fit and finish isn't as good as a Browning, but it's also a $450 gun brand new, that's half of what a new Browning will run you. The Remington 1100 is another good one,I just don't like that it only takes 2 3/4 shells,I know a few models can take 3" shells but the standard is 2 3/4 only. I guess maybe that's because it is mainly a skeet gun?

The one that I own, because the one I don't own won't kill a deer or dove or squirrel for me.

Let's face it- we could argue until the cows come home about which is the best, but in the end, most are pretty darn good. Personal preference means a lot, but ultimately I'd prefer to go hunting with a Mossberg Maverick 88 that I own than a Remington Wingmaster that I don't own.

The mossberg 500 and 590.. just cause for its uses, durability, and price, they simply are unmatched in the pump action category but as for others i couldnt say as ive never fired any shotgun but a pump.

For hunting, I'm going to go with the Remington 1100 and the Remington 870. There are newer, sleeker, more advanced designs on the market these days. But these two were excellent when they came out and they're still excellent.

I like my old Springfiled pump because it's paid for and I have killed a boatload of ducks and geese with it.

It's definitly not the best but by far the best I own lol.
