Why is our washing machine not completing the cycle?

When the cycle is "done" we open our washer, take out the clothes and they are SOAKING wet. Also, the cycle never actually finishes and the machine just stops half way through without spinning out the clothes. We've tried to set it just on a spin cycle several times but regardless the clothes come out soaking wet. What could be the problem? We want to see if it's something we can fix on our own before dishing out money to a repair guy.

Thanks!

Posting a brand and model number would really help. Also, does it agitate & does it actually spin or does it just drain? I suspect you have a broken drive coupler but, without knowing what model you have, I really can't say for sure.

I Always suggest that you try to turn the drum that contains the cloths, even take some of the cloths out, maybe HALF, and try the spin cycle again. You have to make sure you keep trying till your satisfied the the drum is actually spinning, or the cloths will never come out ready for the dryer.

It happens to me a lot and the indications are that something is broke, I however have been able to get get it to spin again. Believe it or not I'll bet it's happened to me at least twenty times but it's still working. I know as soon as I open the lid whether or not the spin has happened, because if the cloths aren't stuck to the outside of the drum I know it hasn't spun. Like I said I either keep trying to move the drum in the spin cycle or move the cloths around and that has worked for me every time. Keep trying don't get discouraged. Now this isn't to say that your isn't broken, but keep trying to get it gone. Make sure you set it on the spin cycle and do not add any water to the machine,

Good luck to ya. I know most mechanics here may well disagree with me BUT I have about 50 years of trying to get my washers and dryers going. I can't always get them going but I really try hard.

will be, do not get to agitated, they spin out extra at diverse situations of their cycle, some thing to do with the moon. Mmmm...mooon, like your Av@tar, it is efficient to seem up previous acquaintances. I take care of my washer like a woman, in simple terms open her up on a daily basis or so & unload my load interior. ooh from time to time they turn their lid & jiggle about slightly. a aspect head enables to work out which way they're prone :)
