Why do they request that sperm donors be between 18 & 45 years of age?
Does that men over the age of 45 years are considered useless? My father was 51 years of age when he had conceived me.
If I choose to donate sperm then my age would be a disadvantage even though I am a healthy mature man who doesn't drink alcohol,smoke anything and take illicit substances.
Some mature healthy men have a very high sperm count than compared to a man half his age.
Maybe I should consider doing it the old fashioned way and get married to have children.

Men experience fertility decline just like women do, and at around the same age. A lot of people believe that men are fertile forever, but it's just not true. Men are most fertile from ages 15-25, just like women, and they experience a big drop-off in sperm counts and quality in the mid-late 30s, just like women. It actually takes a man in his mid-40s an average of over three years to conceive a child without fertility treatments.
Even if you have high sperm counts, quality is still an issue. 60 million sperm don't do you much good if you have bad morphology and 5% motility.

Sperm over or under certain ages is scientifically proven to be weaker and with more genetic defects. So yes, it does result in plenty of healthy kids if the guy is over 50, but there is more of a risk.
