Head lice problems. I think I've got them gone only to see them again the next month.?

I have 3 little grandkids living with us now. One or the other has caught and spread head lice 5 or 6 times in the last year. We've tried conditioner, commercial lice shampoo, eucalyptus oil, cleaned the whole house, etc. Been reading up on it. Anyone ever use Neem Oil or listerine? How did they work? Do you have any other recommendations? They love my fine hair and just make me suffer and the kids don't like it either.

Are they school age? There is a chance they are picking it up at school after you've rid your household of it. Just happened to us I beleive.

Get some tea tree oil shampoo and a nit comb. I've heard vinegar and tea tree oil works as well.

When I worked at a daycare a few years back everyone got head lice(kids and teachers included). I tried all the shampoos, etc and nothing worked, then I stumbled across a website that detailed how to get rid of lice naturally by following their laying and hatching schedule. It worked for me and other people who I recommended it to.

Basically you comb the lice out for a few days, then wait for eggs to hatch and comb them out. It takes a month since lice eggs hatch every 30 days, so it assumes eggs were laid the day you begin. There is a bit more to it, certain days you have to brush while you get a day off of two on other days.

Here is the site that has a natural way of getting rid of lice. It also explains why it works, etc.

Cetaphil cleanser applied thickly over the whole head, wrapped in a shower cap, and left on for 20 minutes will work. Must be repeated every week for 3-4 weeks. Of course you have to launder or clean all surfaces as well or they will just be hiding somewhere waiting to take up residence on your head again.

After 2 months of trying to get rid of head lice on my 2 oldest daughters, I'd had enough. They were both 8 and 10 years of age at the time...I took the clippers to their hair and gave them a military type haircut...I know it's extreme, but after that, and washing all the linens and spraying down pillows and the sofas and carpets, we licked it. Never had it again. Now I have 3 more kids, and thankfully the oldest 2 have not yet brought it home..but I'm prepared to do it again. Best of luck to you.

hum....well i don't know much about the whole lice thing. i had it a few times as a child and rember you had to vacume like crazy pack away/dry all pillows/blankets/stuffed animals. but i do remember my mom was told to pull my hair back and my brother and myself both had around our ears and nap of the neck hairsprayed every day before school.

after my mom started doing this we never got it again she was told the lice do not or can not stick to the hair with the spray on it. maybe something to try once you get it cleared up again.

Use tea tree shampoo and conditioner and nit comb your hair once a week even if you think you haven't got them. Good luck
