I'm going to community college...?

I don't consider myself an unintelligent person for going to community college, but my peers seem to think otherwise.

I have a 3.8 unweighted GPA, 1680 on SAT (all 3 sections) and I'm planning on attending the Honors Institute that my local college offers, mainly due to cost.

Is this a bad idea? Is it easy to make new friends? If I get my A.A., can I transfer to a 4 year university (within my state) and have all my credits transfer?

I go to a community college as well, it's not that bad. Yes you can transfer, but you have to make sure the university you plan on going to has the same courses/credits that your community college has. But you're getting your A.A., so they will more than likely all transfer over.

    Nothing wrong with community college.

Anybody that thinks so is a fool. It's a great way to spend your first two years, when you're primarily knocking out your Gen Ed requirements, at a tremendous cost savings.

Your SAT score is below average for many universities.

High school is for making friends, college is about finishing off your education so you can find a job when you graduate.

It is a good idea, if you don't have enough money to go to a 4 year right out of high school why can't you go to a cc. You are saving money and the teachers are just as good. I go to a community college and everyone at my high school say that the school suck, what i see now is the people who went away are transferring to the community college.

Don't get your AA degree if you wish to transfer to a four year institution. Just take your general education requirements and make sure they transfer, otherwise you are just wasting your time and money. Your SAT scores are less than desirable.

My GPA is like yours and I'm going to a CC

It is worth it cause you'll be saving like 20k!!!!

anyways the college your going to is probably close to the university, soo u can still hang out with your friends ( that's what I'm planning on doing xD)

Source(s): Also I'm going to a Cc next year because i wanna save cash and you also get a diploma and a degree if you do this route ^_^ good luck
