How can I get my senior cat to like my kitten?
Well I've had a senior cat (17 yrs old) since she was a kitten. Now I got a kitten (10weeks old). I bring my kitten to the senior cat to see her so maybe they can get along and when I bring my kitten to her my senior cat growls deeply and hisses while looking at the kitten. Plus I already tried a gate/ also my kitten is fine around her and doesnt mind but seems to get scared when my senior cat growls and hisses. Please help ASAP!!!! 10 pts best answer. Thanks in advance
she_woman_cat_thing.... really? That was not a reasonable answer and you shouldn't be proud.
she_woman_cat_type*_thing
Also the senior cat has strong teeth and what if she grabs the kitten and bites her on her neck etc. the senior cat is trying to bite me when i try to get close to her. So what if the senior cat will bite the kitten what should i do? i cant leave them in the room and let them be please add to your answer thank you
You think this is abuse? Just chill. First I never said it was worthless okay? and second I'm asking how to get them to like each other like put them in a room together not make the cat sniff the kitten's ****. And yes your answer to me is not that much helpful but it's not worthless. So be a mature adult and don't go off saying it's abuse. GROW UP
No you said that the cat should sniff the kitten's **** not the kitten. BTW i did that by letting them sniff each other

What you are seeing is to be expected, although normally kittens are fearless. Your resident cat is geriatric, and the supreme alpha cat. Now, you not only brought in a rival, that rival (kitten) is a turbocharged ball of fur. Your senior cat is not amused.
By hissing and growling, she is letting the kitten know who is in charge. In many aspects, time and love will solve it. The kitten will accept secondary status, and your senior cat will ignore the kitten, and perhaps even come to accept the kitten being around or even take to it like it was a grandchild.
What can work quite well? A second kitten. Seriously. A second kitten will allow both of them to take out their tremendous energies out of each other, and your senior cat will watch and adjust.
But that is not always possible, so time will likely be the way it is solved.

Maybe make the older cat sniff the kittens ****.
Why was it not reasonable? Animals do sniff each others bottoms to check them out. If you dont like the advice well i'm sorry, it was just a thought, thats how my cat got used to my kitten but if you say its unreasonable i must be wrong. I dont understand people who ask for advice then just shrug it off.
You should not be proud either, for assuming my advice was worthless. Whatever, don't try that now anyway, I dont want your cat to accept the kitten. You don't deserve it.
You scoffed at the idea, thus you thought it was worthless. As i said, animals do sniff each other, You be a mature adult and read advice properly. I was not suggesting that you make the cat sniff the kittens **** for any other reason than hoping it would make the cat accept the kitten. You obviously cant or more likely wont recognise that now out of spite, thats your problem, please do not try to project it onto me. I take back the advice anyway, suit you? And i did not dispute that i said the cat should sniff the kittens ****! that was the advice i gave! which i then took back as it was obviously not good enough. It was a SUGGESTION. Also, as i said, i dont want you to try my answer out. good luck.

The cat will growl. She's letting the kitten know whose boss. It's natural. Put them together but stay in the room. Give them some space. Stroke the old cat more. After a while she will turn her back on the kitten in disgust. After a few weeks they will be friends. Let the old cat tell the kitten off when it annoys her. She will slap it . Don't interfere.

Feed them at the same time. If one hisses take the food away. Make feeding time be a reward where both get along. Use milk if you have to.
