What happens when someone gets amnesia?

I am just curious as to what happens. How long can it last? Can it be temporary? What exactly do you forget, and what do you remember? Like, are there certain things most people never forget during amnesia? Are the movie and tv amnesia scenes accurate? Does a person ask where they are or who they are? Can you forget how to talk? Any info would be perfect.

It can vary. What will be remembered or not, isn't universal, it's depends on what caused the amnesia and the individual person. And Yes you can forget how to talk.

Source(s): I have seizures and get amnesia, eventually I'll remember most everything, but still chunks of time, like even months, will be completely lost forever. It's totally creepy!
