Why aren't the residents from MA overwhelming voting for Romney, since he was such a great Governor?

I would like to hear from some ot the residents on how Romney was as Governor. I know he was 47% in job creation. I heard, not substantiated, that he left a huge deficient. I also heard he appropriated an elevator in the state house for his use only.

Why aren't the residents from the US overwhelming voting for Obama, since he was such a great President?

And do you want to bring up deficits? Really?

This question has been asked and answered many, many times. Look at the demographics of Massachusetts, its state political machine and its national voting record. Blue, blue, blue. I would be very surprised if Massachusetts even felt neutral about him, let alone positive.

You know that he was 47th in Job Creation, but what that cherry-picked fact does not tell you that he reduced unemployment in Massachusetts, that his unemployment rate was BELOW the national average, and consistently below 6%, usually below 5%. This translates to almost no unemployment - so job creation wasn't really an issue for him.

That said, just look at where Massachusetts derives its jobs, and what was going on at the time. Heavily dependent on the technology sector, Massachusetts suffered more than the rest of the nation in the losses of the so-called "dot com" bubble. Massachusetts' losses were greater than the rest of the nation - but Romney's record improved every year until they were 28th, not 47th, by his last year in office. Not that I want to make any sort of comparison here, but isn't Obama campaigning pretty heavily on "things are getting a little better by now?" Romney's improvement year by year was consistent - but Obama's is only now starting to show a few blips.

Even given that increase, economists pretty much agree that governors generally have relatively little impact on their states' employment numbers, good or bad, as these are dominated by forces beyond their control. That doesn't stop politicians from bragging about good numbers, or slamming the other guy for bad numbers.

Even with that in mind, The statewide health care reforms that Romney helped enact, and signed into law in April 2006, exemplified the state's national leadership role in that industry; overall, there was a 7.6 percent increase in job growth in healthcare and social assistance positions during Romney's term, the strongest growth during that time of any sector. Romney also personally intervened to help attract to the state, or maintain within the state, several large employers, such as Bristol-Myers Squibb and the Gillette division of Procter & Gamble.

Of course, Massachusetts law requires that the state budget be balanced every year - and when Romney took office, it was halfway through the fiscal year and the budget was a mess. He asked for, and received, emergency measures to drastically cut spending and increase fees so that he could balance the state budget, which he did every year he was in office.

Of course, when you cut spending, these cuts are hard to take - he laid off state employees and cut aid to cities and towns for public safety and education. In defense of this, he said,

“There's no time to restructure state government or remake state programs. On such an emergency timetable, there's just time for cuts.”

Of course, this outraged the liberal citizens of Massachusetts, who look to the government for MORE spending, MORE deficit, MORE entitlements, MORE funding.

Romney did what he had to do as a fiscally responsible governor. Of course they hate him.

How he did as governor is pretty irrelevant. Massachusetts is a thoroughly blue state, and it would take a lot more than a good showing as governor for him to carry it. Maybe if he was the current governor, it would have some impact, but not as a former governor.

MA is a big blue state, Romney was more like a fluke in that state, its like the country is back and forth with both parties, he was there at the right time in MA.

Everyone I know in Mass hates Romney simply because he's Republican. In a state with such a high population of liberals, it isn't really surprising.

Why are some blue states now toss ups if Obama is as great as you way lefties think?? And jersey could possibly be a challenge?? Really?? Jersey???. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say you were just kidding with this question.. smh...

There was a reason, Romney made no effort, to run a second term... The history shows, his approval rating, was so incredibly low... There was no possible way, he could have got the job, again...

Don't take my word for it... Google it....

    using facts like 47%

its hard to create jobs when you are at zero unemployment

that romney got MA from 5.7% unemployment to 4% unemployment and 4% is considered the best level possible

also Romeny took a state in debt and left it with a surplus

plus he hired a sh&t house full of woman for his cabinet

but poor obamaa you cant expect a guy to succeed at the first job he has ever held.

When he took office, it was a recession. MA is generally a blue state.

    Liberal lies haha

Also for the people who are going to try to say he's loosing MA..... too bad he never ran for a second term
