how does disney world determine which park will have extra magic hours?

i looked at the calender for when magic kingdom stays open, and it has extra magic hours on the calender, but each extra magic hours have different times. i understand how extra magic hours work. i'm just wondering. How do they determine how long the extra magic hours last at night? is it just random? and also how do they decide which park should have extra magic hours per day?

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/magic-kingd...

For example if you look at the calender, on the 1st it was open from 9am to 10pm, with extra magic hours from 10pm to 1am. but if you look at the 7th, its Extra magic hours are from 12am to 3am. and the normal park is open from 8am to 12am. how are these times determined?

um the amount of time its open at night is not random at all.

the extra magic evening hours last for 3 hours after the park has closed.

take a look at your examples...

on the 1st the extra magic hours were from 10pm-1am. thats THREE HOURS.

on the 7th the extra magic hours are from 12am-3am. thats THREE HOURS.

how they determine the regular park hours and which park will have extra magic hours which day is based on previous years crowd levels.

for example MK usually has EMH in the morning on tuesday and thursday as disney has determined that throughout the years those are popular days for hotel guests to go.

btw you didn't mention extra magic hours in the morning.

for that whatever park has it will open ONE HOUR prior to regular park hours.

Extra Magic Hours that occur in the morning are always 1 hr before the park is scheduled to open that day; Extra Magic Hours in the evening are always 3 hours after the park is scheduled to close that day. So it depends on what the regular hours of the park are that day.

They rotate the EMH between the parks, including whether they are in the morning or evening (although Animal Kingdom nearly always has its EMH in the morning).

Look at your 2 examples, in both cases the extra magic hours are 3 hours. It isn't random, the evening extra magic hours are 3 hours in length.

ETA: As for which parks will have EMH, it is typically specific set days of the week, but will vary a little when special events are scheduled.

ETA: AK doesn't always have its EMH in the AM. It has evening EMH too.
