How do I get someone to apologise for vandalism?
A few days ago, I parked my car in a parking lot to see a movie with my girlfriend, when the movie was finished, I saw that someone has spat, and trampled on the hood of my car, leaving indents within the hood.
I didn’t know who did it, until I got the surveillance tape from the parking lot camera’s. It has now been identified as young adolescence drunk.
I have already payed for the damages, and I do not want to press charges, because I know that people do stupid things whilst they are young.
All I want, is an apology, and I will drop any charges. The truth is, even if he doesn’t apologise, I will still drop the charges, as I believe no one deserves to have a criminal record that early.
How should I go about this?
Thankyou in advance :)

I would tell him that I understand young people do things that can get them in lots of trouble (I wouldn't say stupid) and I would just be like Look i'm dropping all charges, but I need to know that you understand that other people don't care if you're young. They will press charges and if this had happened with someone else they might not have been so kind to drop them. I'm sure he will apologize after you say something like that I mean how can you not... And if he doesn't then don't bother asking for an apology because he probably won't mean it. Let him do it again with someon else and get in a rack of trouble :]

Actually, criminals do deserve a record--an accurate record right from the start. And when kids find they can act barbarously with impunity, they tend to continue the barbarity. By your gutless indulgence of this young thug, you make yourself a virtual accessory to his crimes. Thus in your pathetic weakness, you libtards destroy society. For the common good, let the ******* vandal sit on your face until you assume room temperature.

Are the kid's parents reasonable? Sounds like something you should work out with them...along with a repayment/work plan for the kid, as such negative actions need to be discouraged with some sort of consequences. Financial should work. Why should you pay?

If he is under 18, press charges anyway. They will get purged when he turns 18, and it may prevent him from doing something similarly stupid.

Steel toed boot to the worthless little b_stard's ball sack should be enough. One or two of those and he'll tell you that he wears women's panties.
