can you feel your cervix changing before due date/labor...is it possible?

i am 38 wks and last few weeks i havehad increased pressure on my pelvis and cervix but last two days when i wipe there its so tender and feels very raw like and my hips have moved apart so im thinking babys head is engaged. i have an appointment next monday and hoping im dilating but im wondering if you can feel this sensation yourself?

this is my 2nd pregnancy and it feels very very different from my 1st as her head never got engaged and this time even when i pee it feels raw and tender...any opinions / experiences?

I feel exactly the same. I'm 38w 2d and about a week ago I felt my cervix cramping and I swear thinning. Like it feels raw and thinning out.

Also my baby's head is engaged and it feels raw and strong pressure on my cervix, public bone, and even my vagina. Sometime I get lightening pain in my vagina like its stretching or something.

I totally feel you! I also feel sometimes like my public symphysis is being pulled apart.

When I got checked 2 weeks ago I wasn't dilated but I was told my cervi was softening.

So yes. I think you can feel it.

Also read this article. It's nice about trusting our own intuitions.

Dang I can't find the article. Basically it says to avoid cervicsl checks bc our intuition is a better determiner than the numbers.

I felt heavy and tender, I also had a show early and midwife insisted it was not a show so I checked myself, it's not advised but I checked and could feel that my cervix was very soft and mushy and I was in labour a month early. My baby's head on both pregnancies only engaged during labour. It sound to me like your getting very close. Good luck at this exciting time

If it's "tender and raw" when you wipe and it hurts when you pee, you probably have thrush. You wouldn't be able to feel your cervix when wiping, it's a good few inches inside your vagina.

I don't remember feeling anything in my cervix at all..just pressure pretty much.
