Aspergers diagnosed before age 3 ?

I have read the diagnostic criteria for aspergers and it mentions nothing about age. A psychiatrist at the Marcus Autism Center in ATL GA said that a person has to have symptoms before the age of 3 in order to have this diagnosis? Is this true? And if so, where is this in writing?

What Lynn sais is correct, but it is not part of the criteria to be under the age of 3. Most people with Aspergers are diagnosed around 7-10, but start to show the main symptoms around the age of 4 due to school.
