How can I learn to do my daughters' hair?
I have two young daughters who recently lost their mother. In all the difficulties/adjustments we are having to make, it seems to be the small things that are most frustrating. Their mother always did their hair in the mornings when they go off to school. Now for several months, I've had to take-over that task, and now it's permanent. I'm pretty good with the pony tail but that's about it. They are starting to expect something better and are asking me to do something else. How do I learn to do girl hair?
This is a repost from a few months back.

You take the girls aside and you tell them honestly that you are there for them always and love them with all your heart but sometimes you know you're not going to meet their expectations because try as hard as you can, you can't be a woman who knows how to fix fancy meals and do special things with girl's hair. Then you all have a group hug.
Then you scout around for a good children's hair salon and you take the girls and ask the salon to give you someone who can teach you and have her show you how to do hair and you take a camera and take pictures of the steps. Then you tip her well and you and the girls go out for some new hair clips and some hot chocolate and more love.
It's not the fancy hair styles dad, it's the reading stories at night, it's being at games, it's being little family vacations, it's about family time and games and laughter. Good luck!

You could look on youtube but you could also ask other women in your family to teach you. It would be easier if you were there actually watching it for real. Plaits are easy when you know how, so ask about those and you can practice with shoe laces or similar.

My daughter wanted a french plait once, this may sound a bit silly but look on you tube there's thousands of videos of people teaching you to do hairstyles, it took us a few goes watching one to get the french plait looking good but it worked.
