Nearly all states seem to lean one way or the other. It depends alot on what kind of people live there and what situations they are in; for example where there are more universities and colleges, there are more democratic votes, and also where there are large populations of black people there are more democratic votes since these groups tend to be more liberal. On the other side, there are groups who tend to go republican. There are a large number of factors that lead states to tend red or blue, and different things that could lead to them favoring one candidate over another, such as unemployment or views on gun control. But, there are also a few that are known as "swing states" in which the voters are likely to vote one way or another election to election, such as Florida and Ohio, which usually determine the election.
