What is a good school for someone seeking a psychology degree?

I'm a junior in high school and I know what I want to do, be a psychologist. I love everything about it but I was looking online for some good schools for a psychology degree and I was wondering if you knew any? I'd like to get a PH.D in it but it looks like the highest course goes up to masters, can someone explain this please too? Any information would be much appreciated, thank you!

You first need to complete your Bachelor's degree (4 years after high school), usually in psychology. Do your best to ace your classes and volunteer/work in research labs, hospitals, etc. so that you make a competitive applicant to graduate school. Any reputable college that offers the major should be fine -- I usually would recommend your state school because state schools often have excellent psychology departments and are more afforable.

You can then apply for Master's programs (2-3 years after Bachelor's), which is the minimum education required for a therapist in most US states -- or apply for a doctoral program (PhD or PsyD).

If you apply for a doctoral program (5-7 years after Bachelor's -- most doctoral programs will allow you to earn a Master's degree after you complete the first 3 years or so), be sure to apply for a program that is APA-accredited -- and make sure that each program you apply for does a very good job of placing its students in predoctoral internships, in jobs after graduation, and at EPPP (the national licensing exam). You can find a list of APA-accredited programs here (under "Doctoral"):

    http://www.apa.org/ed/accreditation/programs/index...

Do note that most states will require you to have 1-2 years of clinical training in addition to your graduate degree (Master's or Doctorate) before licensure.

    Hope this helps. Good luck!

Some schools may not offer a PhD in Psychology, but most of your major schools will.

Most clinical psychologists must have a PhD or PsyD. A PhD is a degree geared toward research, whereas a PsyD is a degree geared toward clinical psychology.

You will want to go to a competitive school for your undergraduate degree, because PhD programs are not easy to get into. The best schools in psychology are generally Stanford, UCLA, University of Michigan, and Yale, but Googling will probably turn up a longer list.
