Speaking of Jesus, Insight, Volume 2, pages 52-72 say: "He himself spoke of his prehuman heavenly life. ... (Joh 3:13; 6:38, 62; 8:23, 42, 58) John 1:1, 2 gives the heavenly name of the one who became Jesus, saying: “In the beginning the Word [Gr.,

Sorry about the brevity of the cut and paste from the Watchtower Online Library - it's one of the most useless search engines I've ever come across.

Anyway, from this it becomes clear that they say Jesus is the Word. Yet they also say that the pre-human Jesus was created by Jehovah as Michael, the archangel. So I can only assume that they believe Michael the archangel is the Word of God.

It would be nice if a Jehovah's Witness would answer your question though. As a Bible-believing Christian, I do not recognise the Jesus of the Witnesses. My Lord and Saviour is no created angel! At least, that's what Hebrews chapter 1 says.

"For to which of the angels did God ever say, 'You are my son' today I have become your Father'? And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, 'Le all God's angels worship him.' To which of the angels did God ever say, 'Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet'? Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve thos who will inherit salvation? It is not to angels that he has subjected the world to come..." (Hebrews 1 and 2:5). GT

  • Jehovah God created Michael as the beginning of his creative ways. Michael is the only creation that God created entirely by himself, hence, only begotten Son. After creating Michael and spending untold time with him, God used Michael as a master worker bringing everything else into existence. This Michael is the Son whom God sent to earth to be born as the perfect human Son named Jesus who became the Christ. God transferred the life of his Son Michael into the womb of Mary to be born as a perfect human without an earthly father. What does God's perfect justice require, that only a perfect human could pay the ransom to buy back Adam's forfeited perfect life. So, why could not God transfer the life of an angelic Son to earth to be born as a perfect human able to pay that ransom with his life? Adam was a son of God and Michael as well was a Son of God, both were perfect human men of equal value in God's eyes, before Adam had sinned. What are angels? They are messengers of God. What is an archangel, the chief or principal angel. So, that makes Michael the archangel the chief spokesperson of God, or the Word.

Yes, they do - they believe that Jesus was the archangel Michael, and that he was 'with' God in the beginning after being created.

As a Christian I can never believe this.
