Since you're from India, medical coding is a better option compared to medical transcription (which, in fact, is a declining field and hence the low salary of Rs 7000 a month).

In India, medical coders get anywhere from Rs.15,000-30,000 per month. However, you will need to pass the AAPC certification exam and get the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential. There are exam centres in India.

There is no age limit for medical coding. The AAPC exams are locally proctored (supervised) at Chennai. AAPC stands for American Academy of Professional Coders. It's an industry-standard global organization for medical coding certification.

Medical coding is the first step in the medical billing process and involves using ICD 9, CPT and HCPCS codes.

Medical transcription, also known as MT, is an allied health profession, which deals in the process of transcription, or converting voice-recorded reports as dictated by physicians or other healthcare professionals, into text format.

Now If you have two years of exp in Medical transcription then it is the best for you and can earn more then 20k per month but it will depend upon your skill set the ability to work fast.

I have many company for ex Medical transcription in nagpur or Medical transcription in Ascent Business Solution here people earn good money and are happy to work with them if you want to visit the website of Ascent Business Solution then click on the below link.

I am currently taking online classes for 3 different things..Medical transcription, medical claims and billing, medical and dental assistant..I want to have all 3 certificates cause it'll look good on a resume and I should be able to find a job pretty easy...If I were you I would stick it out and get certified for both..that'll help you out in the long run and look better on resumes..if its hard and you can tell your not going to like it at least you'll know not to apply for that job anywhere! Good luck!

You are going to have to look at job openings, talk to companies, look at job boards and ask the school that teaches medical coding to know an average salary for it.

Coding and transcription often go together. Coding is about the medical codes for procedures at a doctor's office or hospital that an individual might have and then is billed to the insurance company. Every procedure, etc has a code. That's what it is.
