How come my friend NEVER gains weight?

we are both 18... she has always been around 100-108 i'm always between 120-130. She has always had a very bad diet.... always eating junk NEVER eating good timed meals and not alot of nutricous things... I the past couple years fixed my diet to be very healthy foods.. and I workout 2-3 times a week. We both skate so we are active.. but she never does anything eles. I notice when I even still eat healthy but stop working out i will GAIN weight and struggle with maitaining always going up and down... while she eats complete **** and NEVER works out and won't gain a pound. She even has a very muscular body where it looks like shes a freaking fitness model. Very toned stomach even has the the v and the nice hip bones. Why is it like this? I feel like i have to work extra hard to get rid of stomach pudge (ill always have it) while she can keep a toned stomach doing nothing?

genes and metabolic programming during prenatal development. and also early years of childhood.

some people have faster metabolism, some burn more slowly.

satiating mechanism of some work that they do not have the need of eating too much, others seem to be insatiable.

slim body is not the guarantee of good overall health though.

just keep eating healthily. when your friend will start to age, her body will revenge for all the struggle in the younger age. give yourself a good start to the adult life with good eating habits and all the nutrients your body needs for proper functioning.

She has a very fast metabolism. It's genetic. Don't compare yourself to her. Everyone's body is different.

It's very hard for someone with a fast metabolism to care about what they put into their bodies, especially when they're young and the effects of all the toxins they have in their system isn't noticeable to them. We live in a culture obsessed with weight so thin people tend to think, "I'm skinny. I can eat whatever I want." You should set the example for her when it comes to taking care of your overall health and not lose focus by paying too much attention to the numbers on a scale. Your friend may be thin, but does she have enough energy? Is she anemic? Are her hormones out of whack? Is she moody? Does she recover as quickly as you do after a workout? Etc, etc, etc...

Good for you for being active and eating healthy. Stay focused on optimizing your own health without counting the difference in pounds between you and her. Your weight sounds pretty healthy, assuming you're of average height. Now that you have a healthy diet, you might want to explore food sensitivities. There may be a reason why you're struggling with weight fluctuations. For example, some people notice that their weight fluctuates too much when they eat wheat. Others have trouble controlling their weight when there is too much sugar in their diet. I, personally, can't eat wheat anymore because it makes my belly bloat and I tend to gain weight easily. My belly has flattened out completely since I stopped eating wheat. Anyway, it's something to consider.

    Be happy and healthy!

I don't think it's possible for your friend to never gain weight. Some people try to hide their weight by wearing tight clothes or something.
