can anyone help me put condense these two sentences together?

This year, I left my high school to homeschool my 12-year-old sister. Because my parents work full-time, I assumed responsibility of her education as she jumpstarted her tennis career.

This seems good as two sentences but here you go:

    1. You could put a semicolon instead of a period.

    2. You could rearrange it a little bit:

Because my parents work full-time, i left my high school this year to homeschool my 12-year-old sister and assume responsibility of her education as she jumpstarted her tennis career

In #2, it seems like it would sound better if you left out the "and assume responsibilty for her education" part as it is basically repeating the homeschooling part.

Also in #2, you could put "this year" at the start followed with a comma, depending on the mood and tone of the context, if any.
