What are some good games/board games for adults?
I am hosting a small gathering of friends, 3 total including me. What are some good games for entertainment? I have played Apples to Apples. What else is fun?
Thanks!

There are SO MANY good games out there that are beyond the standard things like Monopoly or Clue. Not that I have anything against Clue, especially the new version, it's actually really cool.
But! I will try and suggest some good, easy-ish to find board games that you might not of heard of.
Most of the games that I am suggesting will be available at Target or other major stores, but you might need to go to a Friendly Local Game Store to find them if your local Target is sold out.
Ticket To Ride is probably the most well known "Gateway Game" available at Target. While Settlers of Catan is there too I'm not as big a fan of Settlers as I am for TtR.
Ticket To Ride is a simple to learn game that has surprising depth to the game play. It's not really the deepest game out there, but it is a lot of fun.
Players collect cards and play sets to put little plastic trains on the board to complete train routes. Players at times can play trains to block other players and it's just basically a really fun and easy to learn game.
Zooloretto is another favorite of mine that is found at Target. It's very easy to learn, but it's so full of backstabbing and treachery, then again that might just be my gaming group.
In Zooloretto everyone owns a zoo and is trying to get the best exhibits. There are a number of tiles in a bag. Most of the tiles are Animals, and there are three more types of animals than there are players in the game. So:3 players, 6 animal types. 5 players, 8 animal types. This helps make it so that it's easier to try and force your opponent to take an animal they can't use. The other tiles in the bag either represent Money or Food Stalls(which increase value of animal exhibits).
Players take turns either drawing a tile from the bag and putting it on a truck or taking a truck and all the tiles on it. Once a player takes a truck they can't add tiles anymore for that round, even if the truck isn't full yet. If you see a truck that's really helpful to another player you can add something to it that would hurt them. Like if they already had the maximum number of Pandas, you could add a Panda and force them to take it for negative points.
It's a really fun game. Money is VERY tight and hard to come by and it's a game with some of the best backstabbing I've ever seen. Very fun, one of my favorite games that I've played this year.
If you're looking for something lighter I'd suggest getting "Wits And Wagers". It's a trivia game and works better with more players, but Three won't be too bad.
Everyone answers the questions at the same time. All the answers are numerical and put from lowest to highest. Whoever gets closest without going over gets the points, BUT between answering and showing who is right there is a round of bidding. Anyone who bids on the right answer also gets points. It's a great party game because you can play with up to 7 teams, and those teams can have any number of people on them. With 3 people per team this game easily accommodates 21 people, which is ridiculous. Another nice thing about it is, you can get points even if you don't know the right answer. No complaining about never knowing the answers to the questions like other trivia games because of the betting round.
If you're looking for a card game I'm going to suggest "Monoply Deal!" also known as "Monopoly Millionaire Deal!". It's a card game of Monopoly, but unlike Monopoly it's actually fun.
Monopoly Deal is very simple. You get a hand of cards. You get three actions per turn and can choose to play an Action Card to help yourself and hurt your opponents, place down a Property Card(the goal of the game is to own three Full sets of Property Cards) and you can also choose to Bank cards for their Money Value(this helps when you need to pay Rent to other players, if you can't play out of your Bank you have to give up Property Cards).
It has the feel of Monopoly, but it's a lot faster and it's a lot more fun. I regularly play this two or three times in a row as it's so fast that you can play a single hand in 5-10 minutes.
Monopoly Deal is a great filler game or a great Starter game for the night before anything deeper and more strategic. It's a lot of fun and has a great "Take That!" feel to it as well as a bit of strategy and planning.
I hope this has been helpful. Keep a look out for these games and try them out. They may seem a little intimidating at first, but it's well worth trying these out.

If you like Apples to Apples then there is an adult version of the game called Cards against Humanity which is also fun.
