Hellenic Paganism is a reconstruction of the previous Greek faith. It is composed of concept and worship of the Greek gods and the previous Greek holiday journeys and rituals that went with them. It additionally is going by using the call Hellenismos or Hellenism. And to mainlee1, Christian ideas can't be placed upon Greek mythology. Hades isn't an evil god, he's only the ruler of the Underworld and the god of wealth. somebody ought to be king of the lifeless (no longer damned). He would not desire to take over his brothers' kingdoms because of the fact he has extra matters than the two one in each of them mixed because of the fact anybody ultimately finally leads to his kingdom. If something is even on the ingredient of Hell in Greek mythology, it may could be Tartaros, no longer the River Styx. anybody crosses Styx in spite of despite the fact that if or no longer they lived a good existence or a foul existence. Mortals did no longer bypass to Tartaros although. Kronos is sealed in Tartaros as his punishment for an staggering war against the gods, his toddlers. on an identical time as Dionysus lived a mortal existence corresponding to that of Jesus, he truly isn't a "savior god". he's the god of wine and pleasures of the flesh. a miles extra relaxing god than the stuffy Jesus character. And Zeus maximum actual isn't all good, all understanding, or all efficient. He cheats on his spouse and argues with different gods. He could be deceived, and actual can no longer do each little thing. He has constrained powers, besides the reality that they are nonetheless large. So truly, you could no longer evaluate the two religions.

    Blue Star Wicca, Traditional.

Celtic traditionalist AKA Celtic re-constructionist....take your pick.

Asking "which tradition are you", may make a bit more sense to most pagans and neo-pagans ;)

Celtic Reconstructionist. Though, I do have to agree with Scarlet, "branch" isn't exactly the right word. Flavor, maybe... allows for more possibility. ;)

    Any pagans on YA?

    Yes, I've seen plenty.

Which branch of paganism are you?

They're not really "branches" because they don't really come from the same tree... at least not in the sense that Christian denominations all sort of come from the same source. Many different pagan religions sort of developed independently, then were mostly quashed or hidden in Christianity. The ones that have emerged now aren't all really from the same source, but many are following the same general directions and have been influenced by some of the same ideas and people. It's more like independent springs and creeks all coming together to become a great river rather than one trunk diverging into many branches.

    I am an eclectic.

    I'm kind of a multi-branched pagan, I'd say.

I'm an initiate (elder/HPs/witch) of a non-BTW Wiccan Tradition, a Hellenic devotee of Aphrodite, a bit of a Discordian, an animist, a pantheist and a sometime atheist. A bit like Uncle Ray Buckland (in my upline) I can't always decide what I am. ;D

What I *don't* do is throw all of these practices into a big pot and mix them together. I practice each discipline separately, except where and when it's appropriate to mix a bit.

Mercuri is an idiot. People keep trying to claim that Jeremiah, chapter 10 forbids Christmas trees, but it does no such thing. It is describing the carving of idols, which were decorated then worshipped. Christmas trees neither speak nor walk. So why, if said paragraph were describing trees would it mention this? It's speaking about idols carved from wood and adorned with metals.

    Fundamentalist nutters.

In fact, most Christians know the story of how a Christian named Boniface put an end to Nordic worship of the oak tree by cutting it down and replacing it with the evergreen - a symbol of life eternal.

Please feel free to investigate the story of Donar's Oak.

It was not my intent to hijack your question. But I hate it when people spread their bigotries as truth.

There are many a good Pagan on this website. I have never met them, but they are good people and I love them!

{Highly eclectic, open-minded, and hard to classify.

Influences from Shintō, Taoism, Wicca, and Luciferianism, among others.

    I emphasize personal development and the use of magic over worship, though.}

I'm pretty sure a HUGE number of people on Y!A participate in the pagan Winter Solstice festival where they bring an evergreen tree into their home and decorate it.

Some of these people might even call themselves "Christians" by mistake because they forget that Jeremiah 10 of the Bible expressly forbids "Christmas" trees
