Can a Catholic take part in a Protestant communion?
I go to a Protestant school and they're having an optional communion service later on this month. I would like to go to see how protestants celebrate communion (plus many of my friends will be there). I know that Catholics shouldn't take non-Catholic communion and accept it as the Eucharist. While some protestants do, I know that they don't belive in Jesus' true presence in communion. So if I dont treat it like the Eucharist (because, it's not!), then should I take it?
Sorry if that's confusing.
Thanks!

No, we cannot, for the very reason you stated. We cannot give the false impression that we consider their unbiblical, symbolic "communion" as comparable in any way to the actual body and blood of our Lord and Savior.

In reality communion is representative to communion with God and God has openly invited everyone to eat at his table. If the communion is just a religious act then no, if it is sitting at God's table then yes.

in a word: no. by partaking of their communion service you are denying your believe that the Eucharist is the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.

The easiest and least offensive thing for you to do is go to a Catholic mass early that morning. Go to Communion at the Catholic mass. Then at the protestant service, explain that you already have been to Communion that day. Even though it is OK for a Catholic to receive the Eucharist more than once a day, so long as the second time includes full participation in the mass, most Catholics do not like to do so. If this is true, explain that you never go to Communion more than once a day.
It would be best to explain the difference between Catholic teaching about the Body of Christ and transubstantiation, apostolic succession, and valid Holy Orders. The fact that you asked this question tells me you are not ready to explain all of these things. Furthermore, I think many, probably most, Protestants do not recognize that the Catholic teaching about transubstantiation is even sensible.
In any case, I do not think that a Protestant service is the correct or proper time or place to engage in explanations about Catholic doctrine. If you can explain things days before the service, that would be OK. Make sure you do not speak in a way that essentially undermines any Protestant person's Christian faith without allowing the person adequate opportunity to replace any mistaken beliefs with more correct beliefs.
I would not want merely to persuade a Protestant person to think that Holy Communion is nonsense. If a person actually regards the service with a pious and devout belief, even if he or she is mistaken, the service surely is NOT nonsense.
Another easy way to avoid an awkward moment is to eat before the service. Explain that you have not fasted, that you just ate. That would be adequate, so long as you do not indicate that you do not lie by saying that you otherwise would attend the Protestant communion service.
I am Roman Catholic.
Peace be with you.

No we can not partake of communion in a Protestant Church. Why? They do not believe in the true presence of Christ . They believe it to be just a symbol. We as Catholic Christians know that the Holy Eucharist is the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

if you believe having a cracker is a great sin then don't have one,
just bring a granola bar so you don't get all hungry during the ceremonies while they're having their crackers..
notice the people who think super beings care which cracker you have on sunday. Can you all really be so stupid as to think it matters one bit..???

After you take communion do the sign of the cross
you'll be fine as long as you know what you personally believe
