Yes, it's been doing it to me for several months. For most of that time it would revert to normal operation if I actually DID mis-spell a word, but now it doesn't even do that.
Why Yahoo seems incapable of fixing or even just deleting such a useless tool is beyond me, but it makes the entire Yahoo organization look so bush league...an organization run by the 3rd stringers in the computer power world. You'd think they'd do something about it.

Every one, because Yahoo has taken part of the spellchecker program offline to fix the glitches that have been there since July, 20111. A program CANNOT be running /operational while it is being edited to fix the glitches. It's like you trying to type and proofread what you just typed accurately WITHOUT missing ANY typos. There are secretaries with MANHY years of experience who can proofread and type at the same time, and do other things, like have a phone conversation, but multi-taskers who can do three and four things at the same time are NOT common. Every time I watch a firend of mine who is a multi-tasker in action I'm amazed at how she can do three or four things at the same time, AND understand how her boss'' mind works. There's a reason she is an associate dean now, or the equivalent of an associate dean of a college. She can multi-task.
BTW, she does NOT have a college degree. That's what you get form more than 65 years of life experience.

The Spell Checker seems to be constantly malfunctioning as a word counter no matter how often it is fixed.
