Can This Power supply handle my system?
Just need to be reassured that this will run my system at peak performance when gaming , i initially thought to get a higher wattage model but i thought this will be enough , Also i am going from an Alpine 750W power supply to this model i have linked below but i wanted to know if my new 550W Can handle my system for awhile without straining and blowing up on me if yes then how can it handle my system if it is 200W Lower than my old one and how much wattage roughly would i have spare , i have used this (eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Lite) but i am still not sure if it is accurate enough.
This is the new PSU i have bought : http://www.scan.co.uk/products/550w-xfx-pro-series...

Yeah of course, easily in fact. XFX PSUs are Seasonic rebrands so they're some of the best out there. It can output 530W solely on the 12v rail, you could run even 2x GTX 680s in SLI.
For that build I probably would have recommended a Corsair 430W to save some $.
Source(s): - It comes with 2x PCI-e 6+2 power connectors, the GTX 550 Ti requires one 6-pin. An 8-pin power connector = 150W, a 6-pin = 75W. This should tell you something. - DavidLv 78 years ago
Your XFX is a good branded PSU, anything over 550W is overkill and you are just wasting your money. In fact Nvidia recommend 400W as a minimum requirement.

Alpine is a good make as I use it for my gaming system (i5 3570k, asus z77, radeon hd 7850 2gb). Always go for a safe option around 700w, 750w.

750W is good. You don't want to stress the PSU at all, as this will shorten the lifespan. Also you want to have enough for any future upgrades you may have in mind.

I think just about, but you would really be pushing it! Better to go with a 600w or higher, i think.
