Does atheism discourage communion?

Update:

Not holy communion, DUH. Try a dictionary. Sorry, next time I'll use simpler language for the common folk.

Update 2:

was kind of hoping for some external insight on the seemingly individualistic nature of existing under a banner defined by a lack of belief in something, but I see my expectation may have been a bit grand...

Nothing is worse than active ignorance. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

"When I was a child I spoke as a child I understood as a child I thought as a child; but when I became a man I put away childish things." I Cor. xiii. 11.

Why can you not see that it is because of attitudes like yours that Chrsitians face such a backlash?

If you believed in a loving god you would act like it. So why do you attack atheists to prove there can be no such thing in your life?

You disgrace Christianity to it's core with your hatred and bigotry!

Do please stop making Christians look so awful!

"Sorry, next time I'll use simpler language for the common folk."

No, Richard... why did you use a word that's most commonly associated with religion?

Next time don't assume we know what the heck you're talking about.

    Did you mean socialising?

    I socialise okay ;)

If you're an atheist communion means nothing, so it's probably a case of not seeing the point rather than discouragment.

As in fellowship with Christians? Not necessarily. Atheism is just the belief that there is no God, but atheists can interact with Christians. I know this guy that is an atheist yet he volunteers at churches to help them with things they do outside of church like helping people. Things like that are fine.

Or as in eating the flesh and blood? That would be weird.

You're an atheist if you don't believe in deities. If you add anything on to that, its invalid and you're either lying or being misled.

We don't care, it's tasty bread imo, but the Catholics get pissed -- even if you're Christian of another denomination.
