Can civilians wear the Air Force Fleece jacket with a custom name tape (No Ranks)?
My family is here visiting and one of them really wants to buy a green sage fleece. He thinks it's really cool and just enjoys unique things. Basically, he would like to get his nickname on a name tape as well as Fox Racing on the other name tape because he is really into Moto-x. I can see why military members must remove all names and ranks when wearing the fleece with civilian clothes but I couldn't seem to find anything about civilians purchasing the fleece. Because the AFI seems to be directed towards military members, do you think this will be a problem?

Just like the other guy said, wear what you want. Regulations don t apply to you. You can purchase anything online. It doesn t matter. As long as he is not trying to impersonate a military member for his own gain.

if it is an official uniform item unless he has an Military ID card he cannot purchase it.
if someone else buys it for him, as long as he is not trying to pass himself off as AD, he's fine and can wear it.
