Why reply 1997 so popular?

Well, i really really like the drama for several reasons.

first of all, i find it hilarious - it literally made me roll on the ground laughing - with the perfect touch of angst later on, and then back to romance.

Also, the Busan accents are really natural

The actors, even though most are idols, act really well. They become their characters really well. and all of them have really good chemistry with each other.

Also, many of the older generation can relate to this video. I wasn't even born in 1997, but i watched the drama on Viki.com, where people could leave comments on the video while it played, and i found out about a lot of the symbolism in the videos from there. The props are really well done, everything looks like korea in the 1997's, including old titanic movie posters in the background and using dial-ups and stuff.

Another point is that this show treats the side couple almost as importantly as the main couple. The side couple are given plenty of screen time, and you can see their relationship grow.

Well, Reply 1997 is actually a very good drama if you continue to watch on. I guess that its popular since it does have a lot of episodes but I don't know why, its just great to waste time XD I watched it because I was bored and well, it was a good drama. Trust me x) Don't worry I'm not a rude person and I don't know why anyone would be rude though O.o

Because it was based on the past, where there were H.O.T and Sechkies. Ahjummas/old people can relate to this to their past experience.

It's nice looking back on the past. :)
