Did Joseph father of Jesus die before Jesus's crucifiction and where is his grave?

This is weird about the gospels. Only two talk about Joseph and never give any references to his thoughts or words. Seriously if this story is true where and when did he die? Surely he must have died before the crucifiction or is this wrong? Where was Joseph when jesus was crucified?

The Bible doesn't have really any mention of joseph except in Jesus infant and child stage.A carpenter by trade and a resident of Nazareth, Joseph had rather limited financial resources. (Mt 13:55; Lu 2:4; Lu 2:24 with Le 12:8.) He was engaged to the virgin girl Mary (Lu 1:26, 27), but before they were united in marriage she became pregnant by holy spirit. Not wanting to make her a public spectacle, Joseph intended to divorce her secretly. (See DIVORCE.) However, upon receiving an explanation from Jehovah’s angel in a dream, Joseph took Mary to his home as his legal wife. Nevertheless, he refrained from having relations with her until after the birth of her miraculously begotten son.—Mt 1:18-21, 24, 25.

In obedience to the decree of Caesar Augustus for persons to get registered in their own cities, Joseph, as a descendant of King David, traveled with Mary to Bethlehem of Judea. There Mary gave birth to Jesus and laid him in a manger, because other accommodations were not available. That night shepherds, having been informed by an angel concerning the birth, came to see the newborn infant. About 40 days later, as required by the Mosaic Law, Joseph and Mary presented Jesus at the temple in Jerusalem along with an offering. Both Joseph and Mary wondered as they heard aged Simeon’s prophetic words about the great things Jesus would do.—Lu 2:1-33; compare Le 12:2-4, 6-8.

It appears that sometime after this, while residing in a house at Bethlehem, Mary and her young son were visited by some Oriental astrologers. (Although Luke 2:39 might seem to indicate that Joseph and Mary returned to Nazareth right after presenting Jesus at the temple, it must be remembered that this scripture is part of a highly condensed account.) Divine intervention prevented their visit from bringing death to Jesus. Warned in a dream that Herod was seeking to find the child to destroy it, Joseph heeded divine instructions to flee with his family to Egypt.—Mt 2:1-15.

Joseph’s death is not specifically mentioned in the Scriptures. But it seems that he did not survive Jesus. Had he lived beyond Passover time of 33 C.E., it is unlikely that the impaled Jesus would have entrusted Mary to the care of the apostle John.—Joh 19:26, 27.

What became of Joseph, Jesus’ adoptive father?

After briefly appearing in the description of that one incident from Jesus’ youth, Joseph disappears from the Gospel record.

Some take this absence as an indication that Joseph died sometime before Jesus’ ministry began. In any case, it does seem that Mary was a widow by the end of Jesus’ ministry.

At the time of his death, Jesus entrusted his mother to the apostle John. (John 19:26, 27) Jesus would not likely have done so if Joseph were still living.

It is reasonable to believe that Jesus took over as the main breadwinner of the family when Joseph died. As Jesus’ brothers grew, they would be able to accept their share of family responsibilities.

“Tradition declares that Joseph died while Jesus was yet young, and that the latter took up the carpenter’s trade and became the support of the family.

This finds some support in the Scriptural testimony where Jesus himself is called a carpenter, and his mother and brethren are mentioned, but Joseph is ignored.

It is quite probable, then, that the long period of eighteen years of our Lord’s life, from the time of the incident to the time of his baptism, was spent in the performance of the ordinary duties of life.” Mary and her children, including Jesus, likely knew the pain that results when a beloved husband and father dies.

Like many servants of God, no one knows where they are buried.

It is generally believed that Joseph had passed away by the time of Jesus' crucifixion. This is because in John 19:26-27 we read, " When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, "Dear woman, here is your son," 27 and to the disciple, "Here is your mother." From that time on, this disciple took her into his home."

Now, note especially that last sentence. "From that time on, this disciple took her into his home". This would not have happened if Joseph were still alive. What Jesus was doing was making sure that someone would take care of his Mother. And this disciple did that. But He would not have done this if Joseph were still alive.

Scripture does not say where and when He died, although it was most likely in Nazareth. Remember, the Gospels are about Jesus, not Joseph. They would not have recorded much detail about Joseph. Also, as far as most of the world knew, Joseph was just another tradesman from a backwater province of the empire. No one would have bothered recording much information about his death.

But his soul is with his adopted Son, I am sure.

At the first miracle of Jesus at the wedding in Cana, Jesus was representing his father. This means Joseph was already dead at that time. If Jesus was about 29 years old during the start of his ministry, and Joseph was about 17 years old at his marriage and Jesus had at least 5 step brothers and sisters, maybe Joseph died right after the bar mitzvah of Jesus at 12 or when Joseph was about 30 years old.

Yes, most likely Joseph had died before Jesus was baptized.

Most likely Joseph was alive at the end of Luke chapter 2.

Other than that, we don't know when Joseph died or where he was buried, the Bible does not tell us.

Joseph was the Heir to the throne of King David and every educated person around those days knew it.

And when Joseph died, that made Jesus, the rightful Heir to the throne of King David.

Evidently Joseph had died before Jesus' resurrection, because Jesus arranged for John to take his mother into his home.

The amazing and sad thing to me is that none of Jesus' brothers and sisters were there, and none of them took their mother into their homes.

the accepted theory is that Joseph died before Jesus started his ministry. the where & when isn't known; his importance was to except Jesus & raise Him as a Jewish father would, which he did.

in accordance to Ann Catherine Emmerick, a mystic whose writings are authorized by using the Church, Joseph, the Foster Father of Jesus died of previous age and he had arthritis. He replaced into already very previous whilst Jesus replaced into born. Mary, the mum of the Christ replaced into in straightforward terms approximately 14 whilst she married Joseph. She lived to be approximately 60 years previous and replaced into assumed into Heaven. before everything she lived interior the domicile of John. Then later she spent plenty time in a cloister with a number of the different Holy women human beings (i think of which contain the spouse of Pontius Pilate) who have been recent on the Crucifixion. After being burried in a tomb (a stroll-in) tomb, St. Thomas who have been away whilst she "fell asleep" got here to work out her keeps to be. the different apostles lead him to the tomb and that they got here across no longer her physique, yet lilies starting to be in that is place. in spite of the undeniable fact that the bible would not truthfully state that she replaced into assumed into Heaven that is an element of Sacred custom that dates lower back to the time she lived. and of direction each Christian is conscious that it is possible in view that Enoch and Elijah have been the two taken up into Heaven alive.

"It does not say, but it is often assumed he had passed away by that point, because only Mary was at the Cross, and because Jesus committed her to the care of John, which he would not have done if her husband was still alive. Joseph by tradition was several years her senior, and had he been alive, would have been in his sixties or even seventies, but that is not dealt with in the bible."

Remember, the bible is just a story. There is NO reliable evidence that Jesus even existed.
