dead bolt busted off in door...won't come out?
after a few years, my cheap dead bolt broke. the spring in it broke. the door will not open since it is stuck in the lock position. So I took off both plates (key side and lock side) and I took my sawzall to the pate in the inside and cut it in half. well that bolt is still in the "lock" position. I took bent needle nose pliers down in there and pulled it as far out as I could then took vise grips to that bolt and clamped down tight. When I pull the bolt out as far as I can and try to push open the door it will not budge. I tried this several times. Don't see what the problem is. Any help? Thanks

Nick is right , but you will have to use a nail punch or 3inch nail flatten the end and punch the hinge upwards. If don't'have that type of hinge. you will have to cut a half inch wide hole where the dead bolt slides. then the door will open.

Take the door off by pulling the hinge pins and then pulling the door off, then you can get what's left of the deadbolt out more easily.
