What does this exactly mean on lung X-ray?

My report reads possible increased interstitial opacity in the left retro cardiac region may represent an area of developing consolidation though there is no lobar consultation at this time. A correlate with clinical examination. I a a little freaked out since they did not rely explain this to me.

There has been an increase in the irregular patterns of masses found in the left area behind your heart that possibly can result in accumulation of fluid in the airspace but currently no lobes of the lung are affected yet. The radiologist has then suggested for further comparison with your current medical history and other examinations that may be necessary.

Nonetheless, there can be over dozens of underlying causes for the above chest x-ray results and your physician will need to cross-check them all with the symptoms you may be experiencing and further testing required that he/she will find necessary before a proper diagnosis.

A developing consolidation is an area of the lung that is becoming filled with fluid, mucus, pus, or abnormal tissue growth. Why did you get a chest x-ray in the first place? There must have been a reason, and whatever that reason is, its probably related to these findings. "A corrleate with physical exam" means the doc found something in your exam that led him/her to believe you have a lung problem, and X-ray found one. Pneumonia and TB are common causes, but there are other possibilities.

Scarring is one of the reason for the "cloudiness". This is typical of smokers. However, persons who have had contact with TB also show this cloudiness so does persons with an acute chest infection (lung). But, only a medical practitioner can determine if its cause for concern. So maybe you want to asked you moms doctor exactly what's her case.
