Information on the name Lynee'?
My middle name is Lynee' (pronounced "lin-ay"). I was told it was French for "Linda". I tried looking it up but my searches only come up with variations of the name Lynne/Lynn. I was born in the United States in 1990, I think my parents said they got it from a baby book. I can't find any information on this name, it's as if it's unheard of. Does anyone know if it's indeed French and what American name it translates to? Any info on the meaning? Please cite your answer, as I won't consider it legitimate information without being able to see proof somewhere.
(Also posted this question in baby names as I'm not sure what category it fits in. This was the suggested category Yahoo! picked out)
Marie, Lynee' did not yield results on the site :/

I can think of two names : One is possibly from the biblical name Mary Magdalene. Lyne here coming from the last syllable of Magdalene. As a name, it is just taken for its sound, in the same way that the first syllable, Magda ( in Arabic ), is taken for a female name.
The second possibility is that its Arabic Linah, meaning one who is "malleable and soft". The reference here is originally to tree branches that can be bent without breaking.
