Is Memphis College of Art a good school?

They sent me a free application and I was think of applying. However, I heard some mix reviews and was wondering if it was a good school? I know its not the most renowned but is it worth attending? I'm thinking of majoring in film or photography.

    Hi there!

I am currently a Senior at Memphis College of Art and I have loved being there. We have both film and Photography and they are great programs. Our Photo department has great presence not only in national journals and publications, but my friends in photo are also receiving a ton of awards around the nation. We also have had several Photo kids do very well in New York, and even have several who are now getting Masters in Photo at a great schools in Chicago and New York on full scholarships because they were so impressed with his work from MCA! So that's awesome. Memphis is also a fun town for film - we even have our own Independent Film festival every year! MCA is a smaller school, but it is really fun because you get to know your classmates and teachers really well and get a ton of face time with our awesome faculty. The only thing you should be wary of is we work REALLY FREAKIN HARD! You don't sleep very much and it takes a little while to get used to that lifestyle.I have definitely enjoyed my time at MCA and would recommend you at least visit and check it out! The application process is also pretty quick and they give a good amount of scholarship - it ended up being cheaper for me to go to MCA than some big state schools! You already have a free application, so what's to lose?

Hope this helps and best of luck on your college search.
