How will America bring back the outsourced jobs?
The Global economy has caused American jobs to go off shore for cheaper labor costs. What about executive pay? American CEO's and Executives earn more than ever in history yet workers are being laid off or their wages/benefits are cut . Competing against $1 a day labor is a loser and those jobs may never come back. Our Congress has passed trade agreements and cut taxes for businesses to prosper, attempting businesses to create jobs in America. These things have only caused more jobs to leave and go off shore. Our middle class has been ruined.
Our Congress is more worried about cutting our deficit than helping the middle class.
Today, workers earn less than they did 5-6 years ago and the wages have been so slanted towards Executives, the 98% has lost a way to the American Dream.
What can American do to get back the American jobs and American Dream?

(1) What is the American Dream? That is a propaganda slogan.
(2) Since Nixon opened trade with China in 1972, Congress has favored de-industrialization in the United States. This trend is not going to change. Meanwhile, slowly but surely, the value of wages in the United States steadily decreased. Those who were employed did not take much notice of the growth in working poor. It is only relatively recently that the middle class began to notice that they, too, were in increasing economic peril. They were too busy watching television to notice until they started losing jobs and homes.
Before WWII there was a depression, as well as ecological disaster, in the United States and elsewhere. It was a very different socioeconomic environment and extremely harsh.
After 1945 there was a period of economic prosperity in the United States due to relative lack of competition. Since about 1972 the rebuilding of industrial capability in countries ravaged by war was sufficient to reverse that trend.
Industrialists and investors are only interested in making a profit.
They do not care where labor comes from, only how much it costs.
Congress has for many years been completely supportive of this paradigm; they typically work for the benefit of the highest contributors to their political careers, i.e., wealthy corporations. It is no different now. There have been exceptions.
There are many factors at play related to your question.
I don't know all of them.

Regulation can help, but I feel its up to the individual business owners to make the real change.
i won't deal with companies that outsource certain things.
Chinese workers should make steel, because steel is so cheap there- but Americans should make the boats, planes, etc, because we are better at it, and won't cover everything in lead paint.
Customer service NEEDS to stay in America. Corporate BS is bad enough without having to deal with language barriers as well.
Apple once said it would cost an extra $40-70 to the price of an iPod and iPad to make them in America- I'd like to see "Made in America" written on the front of an iPad. I'd gladly spend the extra $50 over the Chinese one.
Same goes for my Wii and cellphone.
I feel that a clever marketing team could really run with the patriotism angle.
Or, go environmental- a Chinese ipad comes here on a diesel tanker. An American iPad might come to your house via electric Prius or some such.
Point is, no matter what the gummy mint says, people will find a way around it - like a bar in NY I think that was selling foie gras for $10, and beers for $10. Foie gras was made illegal- so the bar started selling a $12 beer with free foie gras.
Or when health insurance was mandated for workers over 35 hours- so Wal-Mart made everyone work 34 hours.
The mandate was switched to 30 hours, so Wal-Mart dropped hours to 30.
My point is, companies will try to get away with everything.
but if you can force them, if you boycott the outsourcers, make it known you are willing to pay more for American, etc... real change can come about.
Try googling "made in america companies"- nike might be made in China, but there's another brand that's only made in Texas.
My generic forks and knives are made in China, but my Oneida sets are 100% NY made.
even if it costs more, shop American.
