Why do people seem to think their "end of world" questions should be in the philosophy section?
If they think it's going to be a meteor, wouldn't astronomy be the place? Or any other natural phenomena be in one of the science sections?
If it's about what the Mayans are purported as doing, wouldn't it be the history section?
And if it's supposed to be a supernatural force or a deity, wouldn't the folklore or religion section be best?

...It's a question about the philosophy section. As well as people's perception of what "philosophy" means. How was that unclear?

There is no intention involved in the physics of snowflake's movement. "Suitability" implies a considered criteria for reaching "suitable". So the suitability of their landing isn't a factor. Try extending the logic of your statement to actions that have mental activity behind them and an ability to learn. You should begin see its flaws as an analogy here.

Yahoo probably recommends this section and people are too lazy to change it ;)

The only credibility behind the theory lies within Mayan culture/religion and their culture/religion only. Science, Modern religions, and history itself adds any evidence to the claim. and goes even farther to debunk the theory as a whole. In general, the question lies withing Mayan philosophy (As religion can generally be looked at as a philosophy within a story of sorts).
