Why are questions asked that can't be answered accurately, only with opinions?

that are just guesses at best. How can anyone know realistically what a person thinks or why a company does what they do unless you are sitting on their board of directors? Even this question fits that type but since there are so many like it, I'm curious. What's your take on this?

Update:

June Smiles ;) I said as much in my question.

Even this question fits that type but since there are so many like it, I'm curious.

There are different categories in which one can get accurate answers, like maybe the math section, or auto repair. But this is pretty much, people reaching out for another s "opinions" on what, or how one can cope or go forward.

There is a saying that many minds are always better than just one mind even if that one mind is a genius. Studies have been done over and over in this area. In one case there was a plane crash with about 10 survivors, the genius went off on his own to figure out what to do, the other 9 people decided to discuss each ones opinions, and then figure out the best way to survive. Because the 9 people came from many different areas of society their answers suggested things the others would never even have considered. I can't remember the exact details, comes out one person knew how to gather decent drinking water, possibly condensation from a metal part of the plane, another had experience making a shelter that was warm enough to survive the cold nights, someone else knew how to find the nearest town, and another to trap animals to eat, The genius was smart enough to realize this was not his area of expertise but I think his idea was to fix the planes communication system to try to let someone know where they were stranded.

When a question is answered the different opinions give us a chance for new ideas, keep the good, discard what doesn't make sense. Just about the same as a "think tank" in resource and development in large corporations. We all feed off each other all the time, it works well.

    ?????

It IS possible to know what a person thinks; it IS possible to know why a company does what they do (99.99999% of the time, to maximize profit).

A person needn't be in a room when a decision is made to be able to come to a sound conclusion about why that decision was made, or be a person to know why they did something, or felt the way they felt.

A knowledge of how humans are, and how the world works, often enables us to know those kinds of things.

When I've answered questions here, with what YOU call "only opinion" or "just guesses" I often get the comment "OMG, you must be psychic" -- because I was able to apply my understanding of psychology to details from the question.

I truly find and enjoy the wealth of knowledge and information folks provide even if it is considered an "opinion" at times. In this category especially you have so many kind replies from members who really try and give the best answer possible from in many cases years and years of experience. Granted, sometimes they might come across a little on the opinionated side but still hopefully give the questioner the information that they are looking for.

It is mostly opinions that are sought here. Sometimes questions are asked requiring factual answers but we risk being given wrong information if we do that. The questioner can google for an answer just as easily as those who answer can do that.

I guess that at least 90% of us come here with a few questions (and with an idea that we have answers for others) just for something to do and for the 'thrill' of checking if we've received any answers or many thumbs up. This site is not to be taken TOO seriously but it can be very helpful sometimes.

No-one should assume that they will be given a really serious and accurate answer to a problem here.

Some are seeking only opinions. Some may need guidance brought on by life experiences. Not all questions need an accurate verifiable answer. Share what you know.

Getting opinions is sort of taking a poll. A way to tap into others insights and feelings about a problem.

Actually, if a factual answer is given, then no one else needs to reply. I think this would end Y Q&A's! Only one correct answer is needed!

Sometimes it is not possible to go directly source and so one relies on the experiences of others.
