Who among you remembers D-Day? It's been 70 years ago.?
I was 11 years old and old enough to have known the significance of the battles fought on land, sea and air in WW2. Those were real heros back then. Had it not been for those guys and their selfless sacrifices, I just wonder what our country would be like today. There were heros on the home front also, the people working long hours to produce the weapons that allow our troops and our allies to eventually win WW2. It's sad that even today we have troops fighting and dying in foreign countries for reasons far less obvious than what they were 70 years ago. God bless the survivors of that war and may we never forget that grand generation for what they did. The last time I posted something like this, I got a violation notice, that stated I'd been reported by trusted members of the community. If just a few get to read this before it's deleted, I'll feel it's worth the loss of 10 points.
11 AnswersSenior Citizens7 years agoDid any of my Senior Citizen friends living in the south lose power?
And cable due to the ice storm last week? I lost all means of communication including telephone, cell phone, internet and the ability to check on what was happening in the rest of the world. I regained my cell service on Saturday night but only if I drove closer to an operating tower. The rest of my power came on about an hour ago. To top it all off, we had a 4.1 mag earthquake on Friday night in an area that hardly ever has them.
5 AnswersSenior Citizens7 years agoWhat has happened to the Senior Citizens category?
There are just 4 questions in the past 24 hours and only 16 answers, one question received 11 of those answers. I think I know the answer but I'd like to know what others believe. This question was asked a year ago and the asker was saying there were only 14 questions asked in a 24 hour period. We seem to be losing ground at a steady rate. Will it be the end of this category as we used to know it?
19 AnswersSenior Citizens7 years agoHas A&E television network killed the goose that laid the golden egg?
Yesterday A&E suspended Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the Duck Dynasty family, for making remarks to a GQ magazine writer that were regarded as offensive to the LGBT community. Reactions to this action by A&E are running about 1,000 to 1 against A&E. To read the article in it's entirety and not just the parts cherry picked by the news media, Google CQ magazine and choose the full story from the column on the right. This action by A&E and the news media smacks of political correctness at it's worse. An honest, outspoken opinion, when directed towards the so called "gay" community is not allowed even though it's supposed to be protected as free speech.
14 AnswersSenior Citizens7 years agoIs Yahoo doubling the number of points for your answers during Dec.?
In order to make amends for all the points lost because of the "trusted member" reportings during the 11 months prior to Dec. Or is it their idea to cheer us up for Christmas? This question should be good for a minus 10.
17 AnswersSenior Citizens7 years agoWhy are we denied the right to appeal a violation notice?
I go to the trouble of typing why I think the violation notice was unearned and I solve their little puzzle but when I click on submit, I get a page that says the appeals page cannot be opened. I'm advised to retype the URL. They supplied the link, I'd think it was correct. The report rat got my question about AA meetings. I said it was worth the -10 points and this one will be another minus 10. I wonder why I always get these violation notices when a certain trust member shows up.
10 AnswersSenior Citizens7 years agoIs anyone else having a problem with IE11?
I'm running Windows 7 as my OS on a fairly new HP pavilion desktop. My IP is Comcast. Everything was fine with IE9 and I should have stayed with it but MS was promising faster speeds. I'm not computer literate by a long shot but I do what I want to do which isn't much. Now it's like I'm on dial up. Is there a way to go back to IE9? I tried a restore to last week but it wouldn't complete.
2 AnswersOther - Internet8 years agoIs the word "outrage" being overused by the media today?
Back when I was young an outrage was the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec 7th, 1941. that will be 72 years ago next month and I wonder how many will remember that.
5 AnswersSenior Citizens8 years agoWhy are questions asked that can't be answered accurately, only with opinions?
that are just guesses at best. How can anyone know realistically what a person thinks or why a company does what they do unless you are sitting on their board of directors? Even this question fits that type but since there are so many like it, I'm curious. What's your take on this?
