Carpet Tiles on Stairs?

I want to use carpet tiles to recarpet my basement and the basement stairs. The stairs have that rounded lip design where the lift meets the step. Does anyone know how to carpet this lip using carpet tiles? It would seem that you would somehow have to wrap it over the lap but I don't think carpet tiles do that?

Yes you should wrap the over hang.

For continuous look start at the top or bottom and staple it down. A power stapler you can rent is the easiest way to do this.

Or if just doing the treads, start at the back in front of the riser, staple it down and the edges, Wrap it around the over hang cutting it as neat as possible under the over hang, You may want to cut it a hair ( 1/2-1" ) and fold the cut edge back under and staple.

Check the stairs for equal measurement. Pick another step on your staircase at random and make sure its measurements match the previous measurements. Measure the area of any landings and add that number to your total. If you have landings that separate flights of stairs, treat each set of stairs as a separate staircase. Do not attempt to do a contiguous measurement from top to bottom.

on our basement stairs..we have carpet and gold metal strip on the end..on the corner of top an lower stair..its been there 20 years and i,m picky..it still looks good and i,m up and down those stairs constantly..our gym, guestroom and laundry our in the basement.. the two side strip is about one inch and grooved. i,m looking at it now..i would double think for main stairs but this is durable and protects against slips.and the gold strip with the gold carpet...nice. and i quess they have other colors.
