She wants to be friends. Should I just give up?

Known her 4 about 2 weeks and met her thru a friend. I am the kind of guy who always gets friendzoned. I thought it was different this time, we have a lot in common and she told my friend that she thinks i look cute. Me and her went on a date a few days ago, it was a movie, she was extremely late and apologized and everything, i still paid for it. During the movie i put my arms around her shoulders and she moved closer to me and rested her head on me. I thought she liked me. Ive never put my arms around a girl like that and it felt so comfortable and perfect :) but, my friend who is trying to hook us up told me she said that i would "make a better friend than a bf". Should i just give up on her or what. Im so confused by these mixed signals and i dont kow what i should do.
