What is depression after ecstasy like for those who've had it ?

I'm not planning on taking drugs because , without judging anyone who has, I strongly disagree with it because it could kill me so yeah. I'm writing a book about a girl who's drink got spiked with ecstasy powder, and after fainting she's taken to hospital. Of course she suffers the usual symptoms so I want to know what and how people felt the day after taking it please? Thanks.

Well, first off, it would be very unusual for E to make you faint. It's possible, but very very unlikely. Maybe you should think of something else?

If it was an overdose, she'd have a whole host of symptoms and negative effects that could include passing out - but that's different from fainting.

How users feel the next day generally is effected by the dose, what/if it was cut with anything, and the individual & environment. Normally depression, mood swings, anxiety and panic attacks, along with a sense of being "scattered" (so mild confusion, poor critical thinking, maybe some memory issues, and difficulty focusing). These effects might be mild, and hardly noticeable, or only some may present, or they can be quite severe.

(Also worth noting that anxiety and depression, while they can be severe and all consuming, tend to be relatively mild with seemingly random periods where they are worse. For example, an hour of uncontrollable crying or random outbursts over a couple of days where one, for the most part, just feels a little low or pessimistic).

Having said that, users also often experience some form of "afterglow" where one feels very happy, focused, confident etc. For some, this might be the day after. Or two days after. Others might just get moments or hours in a particular day - followed by feeling more depressed than normal (mood swings).

Additionally, there's more physical symptoms like headaches, fatigue, a lack of appetite carried on from the high (which generally subsides as the day progresses), maybe a saw jaw and/or teeth from grinding them and clenching the door, sore throats, sore muscles (from dancing or whatever else) and... well, I'm sure I'm missing some but that should do you.

The effects can and do last for weeks as it effects the release of chemicals in your brain. Basically, it depletes the ones that make you feel good - thus the high - so afterwards there's lower than normal levels. Generally takes 3-4 weeks to fully recover. However, the first week is widely reported to be the worst. Particularly the first three days.
