Will I be able to buy parts for an AR15 once the ban for assault rifles goes into effect?

For example, if I already own one and I want to replace the barrel on it, will I be able to buy one?

Update:

If it were like the last ban, which is kind of unclear, would you still be able to buy separate parts?

We cannot speculate on legislation that has been yet to be introduced. And you're worried about it enough now you can spend some time writing and calling your reps. It's the least you can do.

So, under the previous AWB you could by any of the replacement parts that you wanted except high capacity magazines manufactured after 1994. (because manufacturing was banned for them except for the military, police and other identified groups)

If you added any of this sort of stuff to your AR which would make it a banned weapon then you were breaking the law.

The problem is that Swinestein wants to make these NFA weapons, in which case most places won't sell you the parts, legal or not, unless you send them a copy of your tax stamp.

So, the answer is "It depends on how the legislation is worded. Possibly only with difficulty and through certain channels."

for the most par more than likely, you just wont be able to buy a lower receiver. but parts will be VERY expensive.

Let me translate your question into realese for you:

"If a hypothetical happens, how will effect me for real?"

Umm, it is a hypothetical, nobody knows what bill will get passed, if any. Sadly there is no plan to outlaw stupid people, so you will be able to keep up the really, really dumb questions.

It will depend entirely on what any new legislation covers. And that remains to be seen. Between now and then I expect an ugly fight.

Currently the ONLY thing regulated is the lower.....the rest is not registered and purchasable!
